As long the art description mysteriously disappeared, and I was acoused of art stealing, I am writing it again.
I made this drawing in my freetime in 2010. This series of photo-based drawings follows the pattern of species that my main characters of my story belongs: A peregrine Falcon (Algren), A Ornate Hawk-Eagle (Ichiro), A Harpy Eagle (Manji) and a American Hawk-Eagle (Akira), unfortunately there were no more freetime to keep drawing and even keep updating my DA - a friend of mine informed me about the "art stealing" message.
The method I use to draw them is simple, but requires a lot of time and dedication: I load the picture on Photoshop and using a new layer I paint the base colors over the bird, this is why they keep the proportion very close to the originals. (Drawing the bird from lineart should be my next step, unfortunately I didn't made it yet...)
And once my main purpose is to learn to shade and add details properly, I always delete the loaded picture, but I keep using it as reference in a image viewer program. I am very detalist and made every back feather one by one in different layers - This make shadowing easier once I can lock the used pixels and apply darker colors between two feathers.
The only problem were: I am lazy, and in final part (the bird's back) I didin't finished the details, and to finish soon enough, I made a speed painting background. This piece took several months of hard working , I was saturated in the final.
I am a hobbyist artist and I draw because I like drawing and I love the avifauna. I don't need and I don't want merely copy and use others works only to inflate my ego or gain faves. I am posting my works here to allow other people to see and appreciate it and exchange knowledge to how keep improving techniques. Pathetic is fool yourself and acouse others without any proof.
By the way, as I said before and in others drawings, THIS ART WAS BASED ON A GOOGLED 'HARPY EAGLE'. The picture is so popular that when I typed again Harpy Eagle on DA I found at least 3 more arts based in the same picture.
The statistics bar show there were more than 5000 downloads of this art. The sum of other three is not even 1% of this amount! I am glad people likes this art enough to keep it with them and maybe use it as wallpapers! I really don't mind about it unless you post it and claim it as yours.
